Town Auction Offers Treasures to Lucky Bidders

Have you ever wanted to bid on an unopened safe, imagining what the contents would look like? Are you curious as to why the town of Groton would own such a thing and why it has remained locked? What could possibly be in there and who put it there?

To find out, you could be the successful bidder at an auction of town-owned items on Tuesday, Dec. 10. The auction preview is scheduled from 8 a.m. to noon on the same day at the West Groton Highway Garage.

The actual auction will be conducted in the first floor meeting room at Town Hall beginning at 1 p.m.

If successful, you could be the first in your neighborhood to display an asphalt roller in your front yard, surrounded by colorful plantings....or after the holidays, you may enjoy using some of the excess gym equipment or get ready for the summer with a Jet Ski and trailer.

And who wouldn't want an older-model fire truck, especially if it still has its siren. There are just a few of the items that will be available along with a number of vehicles from the 70s to a 1995 Jeep and a 1997 Chevy Blazer.

A full listing of the auction items is available on the town website www.townofgroton.org.
