Women's Club 100th Anniversary Gift
On May 17, Groton Woman's Club celebrated the culmination of events throughout the year to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Club. A granite bench, with plaque inscribed with the founder's name, Georgianna Boutwell, and years 1913-2013, was dedicated at the Boutwell House, former home of Gov. George Boutwell, and current home of Groton Historical Society.
Pictured above are Nancy Olson, President Elect, Susan Slade, President of the Groton Woman's Club, and John Ott, Chairman of the Groton Historical Society.
Following the dedication outdoors, attendees went inside to meet in the room where the Club started with Georgianna Boutwell's invited group of ladies March 8, 1913. From its beginning, the Woman's Club has been a service organization dedicated to improving lives and properties in Groton. Stuart Schulman and Susan Randazzo from Indian Hill Music, provided music prior to the meeting.
