ConCom Request for Haying Bids, Shirley Road

REQUEST FOR HAYING BIDS
   The Groton Conservation Commission is requesting bids for the haying of a 36-acre field located on Shirley Road, Groton, MA 01450 (Groton Assessors Map 219-8). Bids shall be made by individuals with experience in farming and agricultural management. Proposals should include the types of equipment to be used, any anticipated soil amendments or chemical use, and expected harvest. This property is under a Resource Management Plan (RMP), which can be found at: http://townofgroton.org/DesktopModules/Bring2mind/DMX/Download.aspx?Port.... Please take time to review the RMP. The Commission expects to enter an agricultural and farming agreement for the management of this property for a ten-year period, subject to approval at Town Meeting. 
   Interested individuals should submit a written proposal, including bid amount, for the haying of the parcel. The proposal must address, as appropriate, the following items: fencing, equipment to be used, soil amendments, pest management methods (including wildlife such as woodchuck, deer or birds) composting, structures, etc. to the Groton Conservation Commission, 173 Main St., Groton, MA 01450 by Friday, March 16th, 2018 by 12:00 p.m. All proposals should explain the individual’s experience, agricultural background, and general qualifications.
