  The Town of Townsend is requesting proposals for a unique opportunity: The rehabilitation of the property located at 276 Main St., Townsend MA, the Hart Free Library, shown on Assessors Maps as Map 51, Block 1, Lot 0, consisting of .5 acres, more or less. The Town is seeking proposals for the rehabilitation of the structure on the property into three commercial/office/gallery spaces, two on the first floor and one in the basement. The structure should have common, updated bathrooms and a plan for ADA compliant entrances to all three spaces. A septic solution should also be a part of the proposal.

More specifically, the purpose of this RFP is to identify and select a proposal that:

• Maintains and rehabs the historic exterior of the structure; and

• Modernizes the interior of the structure with shell space suitable for conversion to office, commercial or gallery space by a future tenant.

Following the release of this RFP, the selection process will be completed in approximately 4 weeks. 

Three (3) copies (one unbound) of the Price are to be submitted by 10:00 am on July 21, 2023. Proposals should be submitted to:

   In accordance with the Massachusetts Wetlands Protection Act, M.G.L Ch. 131, Sec. 40 and the Groton Wetlands Protection Bylaw, the Groton Conservation Commission will hold a public meeting on Tuesday, July 11, 2023 at 6:30 p.m. to consider a Request for Determination of Applicability filed by the Groton-Dunstable Regional School District for removal and replacement of soil on the High School football field at 703 Chicopee Row (Groton Assessor’s Parcel 230-46). Public Hearing

Nate Nutting Turtle Area

In accordance with the provisions of the Code of the Town of Groton, Chapter 198, the Earth Removal Stormwater Advisory Committee will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, July 18, 2023, at 6:30 PM at Town Hall, 173 Main Street, in the Second Floor Meeting Room, to consider  the application submitted by Fox Meadow Realty Corporation for approval of a Limited Stormwater Management to construct a turtle nesting area as shown on the plan entitled, “Plan of Nesting Area, Groton, Massachusetts, Nate Nutting Road (236-24),” prepared by Dillis & Roy, dated March 9, 2023.  The property, owned by Massachusetts Audubon Society, is located on Assessors Map 236, Parcel 24, off Nate Nutting Road.

Copies of the application and plan are on file in the Land Use Department in the Town Hall. The Town of Groton does not discriminate on the basis of disability.  Further, a signed translation of this public hearing will be provided for the hearing impaired upon request by contacting the Planning Board at (978) 448-1105 at least ten days prior to the hearing.

   The Town of Groton Council on Aging Board (COA) is looking for a new member! The Board currently has one vacancy to fill. The chosen candidate will be eligible to serve for two (2) three (3)-year terms. The purpose of the Council on Aging Board is to coordinate and carry out programs designed to meet the enrichment of the aging.  Interested Groton residents should fill out a Committee Interest Form which can be found on the Town’s website: https://www.grotonma.gov/government/boards-and-committees/committee-inte.... The structure should have updated bathroom and systems and a plan for ADA compliant entrance. 

More specifically, the purpose of this RFP is to identify and select a proposal that:

Pursuant to the Massachusetts Wetlands Protection Act and the Townsend Wetlands Bylaw, the Townsend Conservation Commission will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, June 28, 2023 at approximately 7:15 pm. The hearing will be held virtually via Zoom meeting and in person at Town Hall, on a Notice of Intent (NOI) filed with the Conservation Commission by Terrence McGee. The property is located at 158 Main Street (Assessor’s Map 26, Parcel 5). 

The proposed project involves the clean-up, repair, and re-vegetation of a previously disturbed swale, followed by the restoration of the natural run-off conditions. This project will take place within a Bordering Vegetated Wetland.

   The proposed project is for a septic system replacement. This work will take place within a Riverfront Area.
