Ban High-Nitrogen Fertilizer Near Lost Lake

Dear Editor:

It was scary to hear that digested drugs were finding their way via leaching into the Lost Lake. This is indeed a delicate area. Instead of forming the Lost Lake Sewer Committee, the administration should form an ecological group to study ways to help the Lost Lake area. We think a ban on high nitrogen lawn fertilizer in the area would be a good start. Also, when septic systems fail, they should be replaced with tight tanks. The area seems not able to support septic systems. If something is not done now, Lost Lake may become one big cess pool. That's the way we see it.
