GDatPlay Open Letter To The Groton-Dunstable Community
To the Groton-Dunstable Community:
Groton Dunstable at Play (GDatPlay) is in the third year of its mission to bring top quality playing fields to our schools. GDatPlay has accomplished a great deal over the last 3 years. This includes establishing GDatPlay as a Not-for-Profit Entity (503©), securing the approval of the Groton-Dunstable School Committee for the main stadium field replacement project, completing the design and permitting process for the new field, competitively bidding and selecting a contractor for the project, and raising nearly a half million dollars on the way to our goal of $1.5M to complete the project and provide sustaining funding over the next 20 years. While the community has stepped forward generously along the way, we will need more support to achieve the final goal.
In the next phase of our fundraising journey, we will focus on some new sources of financial support including field advertising sponsors and local grants. We also will be continuing the successful fundraising efforts that we have driven in the past including fundraising events at local venues, the Brick Benefit, and others.
With the right levels of support, we are confident that we will reach our goal of constructing a new field in the high school main stadium complex and this will be something of which the whole community will be proud.
As we move forward, Groton Dunstable at Play (GDatPlay) is also pleased to announce that Bob Mullins has accepted the role of President effective April 1, 2019. Bob's 30 years in Groton has exposed him to so much of what the town has to offer. Bob has four children, the youngest of whom is finishing her junior year at the Groton-Dunstable Regional High School. Bob's involvement with the local athletic community is broad and deep.
He serves on the board of the Groton-Dunstable Youth Lacrosse program, and over the years could also be found lining a field or coaching football, basketball, lacrosse or hockey in the various town youth programs. He brings a strong background in business administration (MBA) and project management (PMP) that will help GDatPlay to organize and execute the final fundraising phase and construction of the GDRHS field project.
Finally, the GDatPlay board wants to assure the Groton Dunstable community that we have been and will continue to operate with the highest level of fiduciary responsibility in regards to this project and future projects that we choose to spearhead. We also will need more commitment and support from the community as we continue our journey to deliver an asset to the school district that will yield benefits for future generations.
If you have questions about the project or want to get involved, feel free to reach out to Bob at President@GDatPlay.net. In addition, for more information on the project, please visit http://www.gdatplay.net/.
