LETTER: Mary Burns For Republican State Committee

I am writing to ask that you vote for Mary Burns for Republican State Committee.
The number one job of the State Committees is to get Republicans elected. The job is not glamorous – it takes devotion and hard work. It is about working in the cities and towns meeting people, listening to their concerns and then recruiting and supporting them to run for office. It is about grassroots. It is about identifying candidates that can win in Massachusetts with an 11% Republican base. Mary has the experience and the know how to do the job and do it well because she has spent a lifetime doing it as a volunteer.
In 1987, I first met Mary while working at the Republican State Committee. Governor Dukakis was readying his run for President and shortly thereafter Bill Weld, Paul Cellucci and Joe Malone would run for statewide office in 1990. Mary was there. With no Republican constitutional officers to draft off of, Mary helped brand the election effort, Commonsense for the Commonwealth, and worked to elect Bill, Paul and Joe. Fast forward to Scott Brown’s race for U.S. Senate in 2010, where, as campaign manager, I quickly learned that I could count on Mary every time I asked. Again, in 2014 Mary was instrumental in getting Charlie Baker and Karyn Polito into office.
Mary stands out as a person you can rely on. She does not just offer kinds words of encouragement; she rolls up her sleeves and gets to work. She helped me connect with many voters in First Middlesex District Senate District in my US Senate race, and she was an important advisor when it came to grassroots campaigning, public relations and fundraising, the very key components of running for office. But for Mary it is not just about high profile races. Last cycle she volunteered her time to help another statewide candidate who had no staff. Mary knows that winning campaigns are won at the grassroots level, as are strong state parties.
Through a lifetime of commitment and hard work on behalf of Republican candidates in Massachusetts, Mary Burns has earned your vote for the Massachusetts Republican State Committee. A vote for Mary is a vote for a stronger Republican party in Massachusetts.
