LETTER: No Strong Reason To Change Selectboard Now

Over the years I have worked with all three candidates for Select Board, and have found them all to be inquisitive, competent and dedicated public servants. Each of them brings a fair-minded, fact-based approach to governing the town, and I applaud all of them for their contributions to our town.
However, I do not see a strong reason to make a change to the Select Board’s composition at this time. The Board has been functioning well, allowing discourse and dissent without sliding into the dysfunction seen in past years. There is diversity in the Board that encourages looking at issues from multiple angles. Most of the Select Board—while experienced in town affairs--has served for three years or less, bringing fresh ideas rather than looking backwards. In a time of many challenges, we need continuity and consistency to our town’s governance.
For these reasons, I ask voters to join me in supporting the two candidates for Select Board listed on your ballot: Becky Pine and Alison Manugian.
