A New Voice

Dear Editor:

On June 25 we have an opportunity to elect a new voice in the Senate. The two candidates running for the Senate seat vacated by John Kerry couldn't be more different.

Gabriel Gomez is a the son of Colombian immigrants who's academic achievements and sports prowess earned him an appointment to the Naval Academy. There Gomez became a Navy pilot and a SEAL. After leaving the military he used his Harvard Business Degree to become a private equity investor. He currently resides in Cohasset with his wife and four children.

Ed Markey on the other hand is a true life long politician. He was sworn into Congress in 1976 and his only non-political job has been selling ice cream out of an ice cream truck. In his 36 years in Congress, Markey has voted to raise his pay by nearly 40 percent. He has voted a total of 271 times to raise taxes. He has raised taxes on everything from gas to beer to Social Security. Twenty years ago, Ed Markey was caught up in a major ethics investigation, bouncing 92 checks to the tune of $47,780. While he keeps his childhood house in Massachusetts, Markey resides primarily in Chevy Chase,  Maryland and has recently reached out to Maryland residents for Campaign Contributions.

Gabriel Gomez has a plan to Reboot Congress. He believes that our Government needs to be more accountable to those they represent. He believes that our Government needs to be more fiscally responsible. And Gabriel Gomez believes that sometimes doing what's right isn't always going to be popular but someone's got to do it!

If any of this rings true for you, I strongly urge you to join us on June 25th and vote for Gabriel Gomez for US Senate.
