Thanks for Seniors' Thanksgiving Dinner

Dear Editor:

On Thursday, Nov. 21 the Barn at Gibbet Hill was host to the annual Senior Thanksgiving Dinner. It is truly a community event, an evening that cannot be described in simple words.  Beautiful, inspiring, and uplifting can only begin to paint the picture of the night. It was gratitude personified.  On behalf of the senior citizens of Groton, I would like to express my gratitude to the people who volunteered their time and made it all possible.

Thank you to the children of Florence Roche school for making our beautiful placemats, all 225 of them, you should know how we look at all the names, searching for those we know. Thank you to Lavender for supplying centerpieces, it's the one night everyone wants to be the oldest at the table because they get to take these simply elegant pieces home. Thank you to the children that helped with our coats. Your smiles were a warm greeting to us all and thank you to the Groton Police Department for the dignity you provide while transporting those in need and delivering meals to those who couldn't attend.

Thank you to the Webber Family and staff of Gibbet Hill, Your genuine hospitality makes us all feel as if we are dining in your home. And finally, Chef Mark Lynch, the driving force of this night - your kindness and dedication to the seniors of Groton will be felt for days and months to come.  Thank you seems not strong enough nevertheless; thank you, thank you, thank you.
