TRIAD - Community Policing between Seniors, Law Enforcement, and Service Providers to increase safety for Seniors

Dear Editor,

Groton Community TRIAD is a cooperative effort of Groton Police Dept., Groton Fire Dept., Groton Emergency Medical Services, Groton Council on Aging, Nashoba Nursing Services, and Montachusett Health Care Corporation. TRIAD is a community policing initiative between seniors, law enforcement, and service providers to increase safety for seniors through education and crime prevention.

In the last few years, we've experienced some very severe weather which has left many without power, heat, prescriptions, food, etc. for days at a time. In your February 2012, Groton Electric Light Department bill you will find an "Emergency Preparedness Form" for Groton Senior Citizens living alone. By filling out and returning this form, you will be put on a list and receive a phone wellness call or a home wellness visit (if we are not able to reach you by phone), to ensure that you are safe in the event of an emergency.

I urge any senior citizen living alone to complete and return this form. Please be assured that any/all information that you include on the form will remain confidential/private within the Groton Community TRIAD. If you have any questions regarding this form, please don't hesitate to call me.

Sincerely,

Stacey Shepard Jones, Outreach Coordinator
