Winter Trivia Events

Dear Editor,

Groton Dunstable Education Foundation (GDEF) wishes to thank everyone who helped make its winter Trivia events such a tremendous success. The three Trivia Nights (Jan. 7, Feb. 4, and March 3) and our new Kids' Trivia for Middle School students (March 15) raised $2375 for GDEF's spring enrichment grants to district schools. Thank you to all the wonderful guests who turned out to support GDEF and made the events so much fun with their high spirits and enthusiasm.

We couldn't have done it without our generous hosts at the Main Street Café, Bob and Carolyn Wright. They not only offered their restaurant at no cost to GDEF and provided guests with delicious food and friendly service, but also Bob emceed all four trivia events with his special brand of warmth and wit, ensuring that both adults and kids had a wonderful time.

We also wish to thank the many area businesses who showed support for our schools by donating great prizes: Bailey's Bar & Grille, Buffalo Wild Wings, Costco, Creative Expressions Photography (Lori Sullivan), Dick's Sporting Goods, Dolce Wood-Fired Italian Grille, Fire Your Desire, Five Guys Burgers & Fries, Greco Graphics, Groton Exchange, Harvard Lanes, Jack O'Lantern Liquors c/o the Gervais Family, Kimball Farm, Laser Craze, Not Your Average Joe's, Smokey Bones Bar & Fire Grill, the Vineyard (Ayer), and Trader Joe's. We hope you'll join us in thanking these businesses with your patronage.

Finally, we wish to thank the Groton Herald, Groton Landmark, Action Unlimited, and Groton Channel for their help with publicity, and to also thank middle school principal Steven Silverman and other administrators for helping us promote the events in the schools.

Donations are still welcomed to our current Annual Giving Campaign, the primary source of funds for school grants. GDEF's Spring Grants cycle will close on March 30 and grant awards will be announced in early May. To make your tax-deductible gift, please visit www.gdefinc.org and click on the "Donate Now" star.

Plans are now underway for GDEF's third annual Octoberfest 5K - Walk, Road Race and Kids Run, next October at Larter Memorial Field in Dunstable. Stay tuned for registration information coming later this spring.

Sincerely,

The Board of Directors
