Man, 22, Arrested In Groton Center For Drunk Driving & Causing Accident

Groton Police and Fire Respond to Accident Involving Car and Gas Tanker Truck

On August 21

  On Tuesday August 21, at approximately 8:45 PM, Groton Police and Fire personnel responded to a motor vehicle accident on Main St. near Pleasant St. involving a car and a gas tanker truck.  The operator of the car, a 22 year old Fitchburg man, was arrested for Operating Under the Influence of alcohol, Reckless Operation, Marked Lanes Violation, and Speeding. 

   Investigating officers determined that the car was travelling on Pleasant Street towards Main Street and failed to negotiate the turn, travelled across the common and struck the tanker.  The tanker truck was travelling East on Main Street.  The driver of the car sustained injuries from the crash.  Members of the Groton Fire Department provided medical treatment and transported him to Nashoba Valley Medical Center.
