Selectmen Open Fall Town Meeting Warrant
While Fall Town Meeting is three months away, the preparation process is already underway as Selectmen voted at their July 1 meeting to open the warrant for this annual meeting.
The warrant for Fall Town Meeting will remain open for two months - from July 1 to August 29 when the Board will close it. During this two month period, town boards, departments and committees may submit articles for placement on the warrant.
Those articles are then acted upon by voters at the Fall Town Meeting. Petition articles will also be accepted during this period. Petition articles are ones generally sponsored by individual residents or organizations.
Selectmen approve what articles are placed on the warrant and then holds hearing on the warrant in the weeks leading to Fall Town Meeting. This year, Fall Town Meeting is scheduled for Oct. 21 and hearings are scheduled during September.
Selectmen released a schedule of hearings with an initial review scheduled for Sep. 9 and a formal public hearing scheduled for Sep. 16.
That hearing is hosted by both Selectmen and the Finance Committee. Selectmen will finalize the warrant by the end of September.
