Patricia “Patty” Hope Squires Brown

Mrs. Patricia (“Patty”) Hope Squires-Brown, age 76, of Groton, passed away on Monday, November 25, 2019, at her home. She was born on September 5, 1943, in Providence, Rhode Island, a daughter of the late Russell and Anagrace Squires. Patty was pre- ceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Robert (“Bob”) L. Brown.
Patty was a lover of the beach, the ocean and the sun. She especially cherished the peace and solitude that she found on her beloved Chebeague Island where picnics at Rose’s Point, long walks in search of sea glass and gatherings with family and friends were among her favorite things to enjoy. Oh, and chocolate. She loved chocolate.
Patty is survived by one brother, David R. Squires of Es- tero, Florida; one sister and brother-in-law, Marilyn Ann Nicklas (Richard) of Ft. Myers, Florida; one brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Allen K. Brown (Di- ana) of North Kingston, Rhode Island; three nieces, Grace Nicklas Warne, Mary Ellen Winn and Patricia Jean Landgren; six great nieces and two great nephews; and her beloved Maine coon cat, Silver Annie. She also leaves many other family members and friends who all will miss her endearing wit, creative spark and inner beauty.
A gathering of friends and neighbors from the “Hill” was held at The Groton Inn where Patty’s life was celebrated. This summer, the family and close friends will gather to deliver Patty and Bob to their place of rest upon the waters of Chebeague Island, Casco Bay, Maine.
