Svetlana A. Kotlyarevskaya, age 50 of Shirley, MA, formerly of Onega, Russia, passed away on Wednesday, November 27, 2019 at Boston Medical Center following a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Oleg Kotlyarevsky.
Born in Onega, Russia on January 10, 1969, she was the loving daughter of Elena Ushakova. Raised and educated in Onega, she
graduated with a Master of Science Degree in Engineering.
Svetlana moved to the United States in 1998 and made her home in Shirley. She worked as an IT Engineer for many years with Ricoh. Svetlana was a focused long-distance runner who completed the Boston Marathon as well as many other local and worldwide road races. She also enjoyed swimming, competitive tennis, and won several Tae Kwan Do championship events. Her spirit and determination were ad-mired by all who knew her. She and Oleg were active world travelers. Svetlana was deeply interested in Eastern healing traditions, herbal healing, and aromatherapy, and she had an alternative healing practice which helped many people.
Along with her mother she is survived by her cherished sister Liudmila Shapkina of Russia, her devoted companion Robert Andreo of Manchester, NH, and many caring friends.
Family and friends will gathe to honor and remember Svetlana on Monday, December 2, 2019 from 6:00-8:00 PM in the Bad- ger Funeral Home, 45 School St., Groton, MA. Funeral service and burial will be private.
