Nashoba Symphonic Band to Perform Complete deMeij "Lord of the Rings"
W. Bailey, The Nashoba Symphonic Band will perform its “Epic Tales” concert on Sunday May 5 at 7 p.m. in Nashoba Regional High School Auditorium, (12 Green Rd., Bolton; Rte. 117, west of town center). The concert is free and open to the public (although goodwill donations are gratefully accepted at the door). Families with children are encouraged to attend. There will be a brief intermission during which refreshments will be available. Please note the change from the ensemble’s usual performance time.
The concert is the third chapter of a season entitled “Once Upon a Time…,” and features Johan deMeij’s complete Symphony No. 1~The Lord of the Rings as well as music by Mendelssohn and Beethoven, all originally composed for band.
Also on the program are Beethoven’s Zapfenstreich March and Mendelssohn’s Overture for Band. Each of these pieces was originally composed for band, but the music has been arranged to reflect the configuration more typical of a modern symphonic wind band.
