TOURS of An 1809 Homestead
Townsend Historical Society celebrates autumn with its annual fall Open House at Reed Homestead, 72 Main St., Townsend, Sunday, Oct. 5, 1-4 p.m. Tours of the 1809 Reed house will be available, including the Rufus Porter mural room on the second floor.
Largely unchanged since the early nineteenth century, the house is rich with the history of the town and family that owned it until 1973. Objects owned and used by the Reed family will be on display, from Oliver Reed's ledger of his Tannery to children's toys and women's gowns.
