Meet New Middle School Principal Kathleen McCollumn
There are a number of new faces in the Groton Dunstable School District this year including a new principal at the Middle School. Kathleen McCollumn will be replacing Mr. Lin who has taken a job with a school district closer to home.
Ms. McCollumn comes to Groton-Dunstable from the Paxton Center School in the Wachusett Regional District where she served as Principal for seven years and Assistant Principal for eight years. The Paxton School included both elementary and middle level students--Kindergarten through eighth grade.
Prior to entering the administrative track, McCollumn taught English (ELA) in grades three, tive and at the middle school level. She simultaneously taught special education/special needs ELA at the same grade levels.
Her academic training includes an AAS in criminal justice, a BE in special education and an ME majoring in middle school education, all from Fitchburg State University.
Her goal is to continue the process of facilitating the integration of the two middle school buildings so that the students and staff find the learning environment seamless between the North and South physical buildings. Ms. McCollumn is also a proponent data driven instruction, which is a high priority for Superintendent Chesson.
Like her predecessor McCollumn enjoys outdoor recreation such as biking, hiking and kayaking. She also enjoys international travel most recently to Budapest, Hungary.
