2 of 3 Precinct Polling Locations Relocated

The Select Board, based on the recommendation from Town Clerk Mike Bouchard voted unanimously to relocate two of the three precinct polling locations for future local and national elections.
Precinct 1
was relocated to the Town Hall from the old Senior Center building during the construction of the new building; it will now move back to the Senior Center.
Precinct 2
polling will continue to be located at the Groton Country Club,
Precinct 3
voting will move from the Country Club location to the Town Hall.
Town Clerk Bouchard stressed that he is expecting an 80 percent turnout of voters for the November 2020 election.
Regarding the relocation of Precinct 3 from the Country Club to Town Hall, he recommended this change due to the limited parking space. He noted that the parking spaces at the Country Club were narrow and tight and that there would be sufficient parking at the Town Hall.
Town Manager Mark Haddad said that during elections, employees do not use the parking lot at the Town Hall, but park away from the facility. “We will make sure that we have enough parking”, adding that it was possible also to use the parking on the vacant bank property.
Town Clerk Bouchard also stressed that Early Voting would be available and absentee ballots are also available for those having difficulty getting into the Country Club.
