GIRLS GOLF

Erin Smolka carded a 46 at Groton CC as the Crusaders edged Auburn 27.5 to 26.5

They also defeated Burncoat 34.5 to 19.5. Erin Smolka shot 47 at Groton CC and Lydia Liao had a solid 51 winning match, to lead GD past the Patriots (0-5). Aubrey Lambert won her match 8-1 for the Crusaders. GD improved to 3-3 with a 33.5 to 19.5 win over Quabbin (3-5). Again, it was Erin Smolka earning medalist honors shooting 12-over 47 to lead the host Crusaders.

BASEBALL

Groton-Dunstable bounced back from its 11-2 loss to Nashoba Regional (5-2), with a 13-4 win over Murdock and 13-9 slugfest with Fitchburg.

Against Murdock (2-4), Josh Acaba crafted a four-hitter and helped himself with three walks and a sac fly. Adam Kmetz and Mike Keating each added two hits for the visiting Crusaders (4-6). GD banged out 12 hits committed four errors while the Blue Devils had six miscues.

Groton-Dunstable (5-6) outlasted Fitchburg 12-9 scoring three runs in the top of the 13th. Junior Alex Dhionis relieved, pitching three scoreless innings to pick up the win. Offensively, Dhionis hammered two hits, including a two-run homer. Senior Mike Keating added three hits and 2 RBIs for GD.

SOFTBALL

GD 9, Fitchburg 7

With the score 7-7 in the top of the seventh inning, Groton-Dunstable plated four runs and made them stand. Key hits in the inning were from Anni Liljegren, two-run single and Lindsey Maloomian, RBI triple and run scored. Liljegren was 3-for-4, 3 RBI, 2 runs.

GD 13, Westborough 12

For the Crusaders, it was their first ever win over the Rangers. Lauren Kraemer (1 goal), Livy Penney (3 gls, 1 assist), Nicki Wilkinson (2 gls, 2 assists), Livie Rubeski (5gls, 1 assist), Sara Walsh (1 gl), Emma Ordemann (1 gl, 2 assists). Groton-Dunstable 21, Wachusett 10

BOYS LACROSSE

GD 10, Wachusett 9

Sophomore Zach Cotoni scored four goals, while teammates Austin Hourani and Matt Manning scored twice as visiting GD (5-6, 2-4 Midland A) squeezed past Wachusett (4-6, 2-4). Ryan Dodge and Nick Irby added single goals for the Crusaders.
