G-D Crusaders Football Are Mid-Wach-C League Co-Champions

This past Thanksgiving Day football game was huge with first place for Mid-Wach C League Championship on the line. When the games were over, Tyngsborough had defeated Groton-Dunstable 24-13, and Oakmont trounced Lunenburg 34-0.
     Tyngsborough (9-2), Oakmont (8-3), Groton-Dunstable (6- 5) all finished 3-1 in league, tied for the championship.
Phil Sutherland (Tyngsborough) and Kyle Plausse (GD) were awarded game MVP for their respective teams. Kyle scored both of the Crusaders’ touchdowns.
     “The result today wasn’t what we wanted or what this team deserves. Nonetheless, the Groton-Dunstable football team is a Co-Champion of Mid-Wach league but would have enjoyed winning it outright,” shared varsity coach Tom Sousa.
     “We had a very solid season with really strong senior leadership that helped us with the success we had. I am excited about the future with many underclassmen contributing this year. Looking forward to getting in the weight room, getting stronger and building on the positive aspects of this season going forward,” concluded Sousa.
     Some GD football players were among Central Mass. leaders in their respective areas. Tim Stark - third in tackles 114, and seventh with 3 interceptions; Bradley teDuits - fourteenth in passing, 133 attempts with 62 completions for 1,167 yards and 12 TDs; Kyle Plausse - 15th in rushing, 152 attempts, 958 yds., a 6.3 average including 10 TDs; Jack Barry - 12th in receiving, 26 receptions for 607 yds., a 23.3 average and 6 TDs.
