GD 12, Westborough 10

Aiden McDonough won 18 of 22 face offs and Nathan Townsend scored four goals, Deaglin Garside added a hat trick to help send the host Crusaders to their second win of the season.

The Crusaders jumped in front early on three quick goals by Nathan Townsend, who later tallied his fourth goal.

With laser like velocity, Deaglin Garside scored three goals from the outside. Teammate Tyler Dodge helped pad an early lead with a nice man up goal from 12 yards out.

Late in the contest, GD held a 10-9, but Hunter Wolfrey finished for his first goal of the varsity season to add an important insurance goal with just under 2:30 left in the game.  Wolfrey’s goal was big with the Rangers fighting back and scoring from a nice inside pass and finish with 1:30 left in the game.

McDonough won the following face off and Jackson Grahmn made a nice inside move with a backhand shot to ice the game for the Crusaders’ last goal.

This was an important victory. GD had jumped out to a five goal lead only to have it erased by Westborough's high cross passing series to open men outside which resulted in four scores. To see that outstanding effort wiped away could have been disheartening.

Declan Nash had 15 saves in a strong performance.  Gavin Lilly, Mike Lawton and long pole Colin Teduits played strong defensive games.

Records: GD (2-6, 1-3 Mid-Wach A), Rangers  (1-8, 0-4).
