Pursuant to the Massachusetts Wetlands Protection Act and the Townsend Wetlands Bylaw, the Townsend Conservation Commission will hold a work session on Wednesday, February 14, 2024 during their 7:55pm meeting. The work session will be held virtually via Zoom meeting and in person at Town Hall, on a Request for Determination of Applicability filed with the Conservation Commission by Nashua River Watershed Association. The property is located at 0 Riverbank Terrace & 0 Turnpike Rd (Assessor’s Map 51, Parcel 39 & Assessor’s Map 18, Parcel 27). 

The proposed project is to plant ~120 native bare root tree or shrubs seedlings along the bank of the Squannacook River behind the Farmers Exchange. All work will take place in the riverfront area, land subject to flooding and in NHESP priority habitats of rare species.

The proposed project is for the removal and replacement of a parking area with new asphalt. Removal of overgrown vegetation and invasive species ~20’ from building around the sides and rear of the building. Demolition of an existing 4’X12’ dilapidated structure. Work is within 100 feet of a perennial stream and a wetland buffer zone.

The right of way section is located from 80 Main St to the intersection of South St & Main St. 

The proposed project is for the construction of sidewalk to connect the Squannacook River Rail Trail and other existing sidewalk under MassTrails Grant from 80 Main St to the intersection of South St/Main St to tie into the existing sidewalk. The work will cross over a culvert crossing and through Riverfront Area and BLSF.

The hearing will be held virtually via Zoom meeting and in person at Town Hall, on a Notice of Intent (NOI) filed with the Conservation Commission by Jose Mercado. The property is located at 106 Haynes Road (Assessor’s Map 43, Parcel 7). 

The proposed project is to demolish a dilapidated single-family dwelling, cut and clear trees, crush and fill an existing septic tank, and then construct a new single-family dwelling, deck, bulkhead, and well, with grading and associated utilities. Part of the work will occur within 100 feet of a Bordering Vegetated Wetland.

The property is located at 80 Main Street (Assessor’s Map 34, Parcels 4 & 5). 

The proposed project is for the construction of a building addition, a new septic system, a stormwater management area, and associated grading. Part of the construction will take place within 100 feet of a Bordering Vegetated Wetland, and all of the work will occur within bordering land subject to flooding and 200 feet of Harbor Pond.
