Union Congregational Church Welcomes Rev. Corey Jason Sanderson

Union Congregational Church of Groton (UCC) is excited to announce that Reverend Corey Jason Sanderson has been called to serve as interim pastor. Reverend Sanderson will begin his ministry in Groton on December 1, the start of advent season, and will lead UCC through an interim period that will include some inspiring events in the life of the church.

Select Board Welcomes New Deputy Fire Chief

Welcome Deputy Chief Art Cheeks. Groton Fire Chief Steele McCurdy Jr. told the Select Board that he was proud to introduce the Board and the Town to Groton’s new Deputy Fire Chief. McCurdy praised the work Cheeks has done for the department for the while serving as an on-call Fireman/EMT, and proudly welcomed him to this full-time position. Cheeks told the Select Board that he enjoyed serving the community for the past 12 year. “I love this community,” he said.

Nashoba Tech Drama Students to Present "Elf, The Musical"

Nashoba Valley Technical High School students will bring everybody’s favorite elf to life with four performances of “Elf, The Musical.” Showtimes are Thursday, Dec. 12, Friday, Dec. 13, and Saturday, Dec. 14, all at 7 p.m., with a matinee Saturday at 2 p.m. Tickets are $15 for floor seating, $10 for balcony, and are available at

Holiday Open House Townsend Historical Society

The Townsend Historical Society invites everyone to visit for our Holiday Open House! On December 1 from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m., the Reed Homestead at 72 Main Street in Townsend will be decorated and full of holiday spirit! Come inside out of the chilly air for a tour of the historic 1809 house and warm up by the fireplace where we’ll be cooking holiday treats!
