Bernadette A. (Mechler) Pacilio, 88, of Shirley (formerly of Groton) passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 8, 2021. Born in Queens, NY, on January 10, 1933, Bernadette was one of two daughters born to the late Bernard and Elizabeth (Steigerwald) Mechler.
Bernadette was devoted to her late husband, Michael, her seven children, her 15 grandchildren, and her 11 great grandchildren, and to so many more extended family and friends. As far back as we can remember, our Mom was the epitome of motherhood and family values. She taught all her seven children the Catholic ethics and the values that we live each and every day. Through this horrible disease of dementia, she always knew that Sunday was Mass day. We have missed her and we will continue to miss her. Truly we will live her legacy of love of family.
In addition to her parents, Bernadette was predeceased by her husband, Michael F. Pacilio; her son, Michael J. Pacilio, and her sister Gloria Rowell.
Bernadette is survived by her sons and daughters, Joseph B. Pacilio and his wife Lourdes of California, Victoria M. Winberg and her husband Hans of New Jersey, Mary B. Beach of Littleton, Jeanne M. Honkonen and her husband Dean of Groton, Elaine M. Obregon and her husband Carlos of Shirley, and Gregg J. Pacilio and his wife Michelle of Hawaii; also survived by her 15 grandchildren: Jaime, Sarah, Kimberle, Kristal, Bruce, Ryan, Kyle, Michaela, Henry, Louis, Olivia, Lauren, John, Jai, and Jade, and by her 11 great-grandchil- dren, Brianna, Rome, KJ, Katie, Daniel, Michael, James, Thomas, Olivia, Ava, and Amelia.

A memorial service will be held in Riverside, California in January 2022 where Bernadette will be laid to rest with her husband Michael.
