Gary Louis Gerenstein

Gary Louis Gerenstein, born January 1, 1960 in White Plains, NY, passed away peacefully at home in Groton on Wednesday, December 21, 2022 after a long battle with cancer. He was the son of the late Erika and Louis Gerenstein. 

Gary’s heart was always in New York. He graduated from Clarkstown High School South in 1978, received a degree in Business from Mercy College, NY, and before his illness worked as a personal trainer, chauffeur, and for Tiffany & Co. Greenwich, CT. He had a passion for fitness, motorcycles, ‘57 Chevys, old movies, his beloved dog Nikko, and was a foodie. Gary was known for his generous heart, smile and charm, and made lasting friendships wherever he went. 

He leaves behind his sister, Cindy McCullough, her husband, Rick; nephew, Kyle; niece, Kaitlyn Rogan, her husband James and great nephew, Jackson; and many wonderful friends. Gary will be sadly missed. 

A celebration of Gary’s life will be planned in New York in the spring of 2023. Donations can be made in his honor to St. Jude.org.
