The Groton Water Department will begin its annual flushing of the water distribution system on Tuesday, April 9^th, 2024 thru Thursday, April 25^th, 2024. All water main flushing occurs during the daytime hours only. We anticipate the flushing program will take approximately three weeks to complete. You will experience low water pressure and discolored water during the flushing effort and we apologize for this inconvenience. Please be patient with us as we flush the water mains.

If you experience a prolonged period of discolored water, please run numerous cold water taps simultaneously for 5 to 10 minutes or until it clears up.

This is the time to thoroughly flush your hot water tank.

The water distribution system flushing program is subject to change without notice and the dates listed below are approximate only!

Please be sure to call our offices between the hours of 8:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. for the most up to date location of the Flushing Program or check our web site at www.grotonwater.org

   Area 1 - April 9^th, 10^th & 11^th: Orchard Lane, Schoolhouse Road, Hemlock Park Drive, Chestnut Hill Road; Martins Pond Road Hollis Street, Champney Street, Middle School Complex, Main Street, Lowell Road, Lost Lake Drive.

Dead- Ends – April 12^th: Lost Lake Area, Common Street, Longley Road, Sheple Lane, Deerfield Drive, Allans Trail,

Area 2 - April 16^th and 17^th: Duck Pond Drive, Hidden Valley Road, Whiley Road, Boston Road, Forge Village Road, Hayden Road, Sandy Pond Road, Robin Hill Road, Quail Ridge Road, Stonebridge / Old Carriage Path, Gilson Road, and Bayberry Road. 

Area 3 – April 18^th: Cow Pond Road, Painted Post, Amanda’s Way, and other dead-ends and side streets.

Area 4 - April 23^rd: Old Ayer Road, Boston Road, Lovers Lane, Elm Street, Pleasant Street, Farmers Row to Broad Meadow, Lawrence Academy Campus.

Area 5 – April 24^th:  Farmers ROW, Higley Street, Groton School Campus, Shirley Street, Joy Lane, Culver Street, Smith, Dolan Drive.

Area 6 – April 25^th:  West Street, Whiting Avenue, Hillside Avenue, Fairview Avenue, Mill Street, Gratuity Road, Fitch’s Bridge Road, Nod Road, North Main Street, Riverbend Drive, Wintergreen Lane.

In accordance with the provisions of Massachusetts General Laws, Chapter 40C, the Groton Historic Districts Commission (GHDC) will hold a Public Hearing on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at 7:45 pm at The Groton Town Hall, First Floor Meeting Room, 173 Main Street, Groton, MA 01450. This meeting will be held to consider the application submitted by Jake Penney, seeking a Certificate of Appropriateness for 274 Main Street, Assessors Map 112-84 to repair and/or replace the exterior siding, trim, windows, doors and exterior lights. Copies of the application and supporting materials are available for review by contacting the GHDC via the Land Use Dept, 2^nd floor of the Town Hall.
