Judith McDonald

Judith McDonald of Groton MA, formerly of Franklin, MA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday January 19, 2022, at Rivercourt Residences assisted living facility in West Groton. She was the loving wife of the late Martin McDonald.
Judy was born in Boston, MA on March 10, 1928, the daughter of the late Daniel and Katherine (Devine) Lynch. Judy attended St Margaret’s in Dorchester and Emmanuel College from which she graduated in 1949.
Judy was always independent and a hard worker, from her teenage years scooping ice cream at Brigham’s, through an early career at Tonneson & Larson accountants and in a long career in the Franklin Public Schools, from which she retired in 1996.
In her single days, Judy could often be found shopping on Newbury Street for the latest fashions. Once Judy and Marty settled in Franklin to raise their daughter, she embraced all the activities of raising a daughter including many years of dance recitals. She also was able to continue her career in the superintendent’s office of the Franklin school system where she was a dedicated employee and one of the fastest and most accurate typers around. As empty nesters, Judy and Marty travelled extensively to places including the Grand Canyon, Arizona, and British Colombia, as well as Scandinavia, Italy, Portugal, Israel, and more. Judy was always an avid reader, crossword puzzler and Jeopardy viewer. She was very generous and attentive to her family and friends. Over the last several years at Rivercourt she made many friends, both among residents and staff. Judy is loved and will be missed by all.
Judy is survived by her daughter Paula and son-in-law Joseph Fischetti of Groton, grandchildren Nicholas, Matthew, and Cara, her sister Lillian Bolton of Braintree, MA, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Judy is predeceased by her brother, Rev. Leo X. Lynch.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Grace worshipping at St. Joseph Church, 28 Tarbell St., Pepperell, MA on Tuesday, January 25 at 10 a.m. Facial coverings required. Following Mass, Judy will be laid to rest alongside her husband in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Beaver Street, Franklin, MA at 1:00 p.m. Kindly meet at the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105(www.StJude.org). Please see www.McGaffiganFuneral.com
