Vote 'No' On Fire Station Funding
Dear Editor:
I strongly urge residents to attend the town meeting Saturday, Jan. 26 at 9 a.m. to vote a resounding "NO" to fund the new fire station. Funding the millions of dollars to build this new fire station will cripple the town financially for years to come. We need to use this money to maintain and improve the infrastructure in our town. We need to provide basic services like town water to residents that don't have it.
I know that the town has spent a significant amount of money buying the land and has expended funds on consulting services to develop this land. This is not a waste of money as someday we will need a new fire station, but not now.
Let's spend this proposed money on providing all Groton residents with basic town services such as town water, proper sanitation, and well maintained roads. Let's stop putting "the cart before the horse".
