Mary Elizabeth (Laird) Gaudet, RN, of Gardner, formerly of Groton, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 23, 2021 in Phillipston, surrounded by her loving family.
Born September 18, 1929 in Norwood, she was the beloved wife of the late Francis Gaudet. Devoted mother of Beverly Gaudet and Larry Simmers of Dedham; Brenda Gaudet-Duffy and Larry Duffy of Phillipston; and John Gaudet of Gardner. Grandmother of Justin Maynard, Shane Gibson, Mikayla Gaudet, and Shira Gaudet and great grandmother of four. Aunt to Gina Laird of Suffield, CT.
A registered nurse, she graduated from Mary Burns School of Nursing, and worked in Cooley Dickenson hospital in Northampton, Jordan Hospital in Plymouth, Groton public schools, and nursing homes.
She enjoyed spending time at the beach, bowling and waling with lifelong friends. She was a great cookie baker for all the kids, young and old.
In addition to her husband Francis, she is pre-deceased by her brother, Matthew Laird, his wife, Inez; and 17 broth- ers-in-law and sisters in law, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Mary for a period of visitation in the Badger Funeral Home, 45 School Street, Groton on Friday, January 29, 2021 from 5 until 6 p.m. Her funeral service will be celebrated in the Funeral Home on Saturday January 30, 2021 at 2 p.m. Mary’s interment will be held on Monday February 1, 2021 at noon in St. Joseph Cemetery, Fitchburg.
