Nancy Lynn Temple Bugbee

Nancy Lynn Temple Bugbee, age 62, of Groton, passed peacefully with family by her side on Saturday, May 13, 2023.

Nancy was born in Boothbay Harbor, Maine to Robert F.  and Margaret G. Temple on August 30, 1960. At seven months old, with two older sisters in tow, her parents moved to La Marque, Texas, where Nancy would spend her childhood years. Nancy returned with her parents to Massachusetts in 1977. A 1978 graduate of Ipswich High School, Nancy attended both The University of Texas at Austin and The University of Massachusetts Amherst. Upon graduating from UMass, Nancy worked for several years for the Mintz Levin and Bingham Dana Law Firms in Boston before she, Dave, and Madeleine moved to their home in Groton.

Nancy established herself as an active member of the Groton community, particularly the Groton-Dunstable Regional School District. Always a passionate advocate for her children, Nancy volunteered with the Groton-Dunstable Special Education Parent Advisory Council before working as a paraprofessional at Florence Roche Elementary School – a job she immersed herself in, developing strong and personal relationships with both the staff and the students.

Upon her retirement, she continued those friendships through her book club, travel and shared glasses of wine. Nancy loved to travel, enjoying Europe and island retreats with her family, and connecting with old friends and visiting family throughout the United States. Nancy touched many lives with her outgoing personality and passion for living – a passion she carried with her into her battle against brain cancer.

Nancy is survived by her husband, David Alan Bugbee; her children, Madeleine Grace Bugbee and Travis Spencer Bugbee; her sisters, Judy Bettison (Dennis) of Santa Fe, TX, Susan Meeks of Burleson, TX, and  Cynthia Magin (Ken) of Marshfield; sisters-in-law Debbie DeCarlo (David) of Wayland, Diane Hurley (James) of Wrentham; brother-in-law Donald Bugbee (Leanne) of Medway; father-in-law George J. Bugbee of West Roxbury; and many much-beloved nieces, nephews and friends.

Nancy is predeceased by her parents, Robert F. and Margaret G. Temple and mother-in-law, Virginia M. Bugbee.

Friends and family will gather to honor and remember Nancy on Thursday, May 18, 2023 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Badger Funeral Home, 45 School St., Groton.
