West Groton Man Arrested on Firearms and Drug Charges

On Thursday afternoon in West Groton, Groton police arrested an alleged drug dealer - Shane Conely - after serving a 'high risk' search warrant and on his Pepperell Road home.

After an investigation, Police determined that they had grounds to believe that Conley, 28, had firearms in his home as well as drugs that he was selling. Groton Police obtained a search warrant and searched his home with members of the North East Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council SWAT Team, finding ammunition, a sawed-off rifle and quantities of pills, hashish, and marijuana.

Conley was arrested and charged with a number of offenses including unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition, improper storage of firearms and ammunition, possession of controlled substances with intent to distribute and other related offenses.

"Today, Groton Police detectives concluded a major investigation which took guns, drugs and a drug dealer out of our community," Groton Police Chief Donald Palma, Jr. said in a statement. "I am grateful for the high level of cooperation shown among municipal police departments in our area, including the NEMLEC SWAT Team, which helped bring this dangerous suspect to justice", he said.

Police Chief Palma added "at no time was the public placed in harms way."
