June 7, 2021 marked the tenth anniversary of William Woitowicz’s death while serving with the Marine Corps in Afghanistan. He was killed in action June 7, 2011 trying to save the lives of others in his group who were under attack. His grave (pictured above) is in Westford. Billy made the ultimate sacrifice, having just graduated from Groton-Dunstable, making him the first G-D graduate who lost his life while fighting a war.

WWII Veteran Frank Scimemi passed away Sunday, May 23, 2021 peacefully at home. He was born on December 13, 1921 to Stefano Scimemi and Philomena (Dirubbo) Scimemi and was raised in Tyngsboro. Frank proudly served in the Army Air Corps in the China Burma India Theater as an airplane mechanic.
