OBITUARIES: Anastasia (Tessie) Roufos

It is with great regret and sorrow that we announce the passing of our Mother on February 4, 2014. She was just shy of celebrating her 90th birthday. She was the daughter of Anthony and Sophia Mantos and was born on March 16, 1924 in Kastoria, Greece.

As a young adult she moved with her siblings to Toronto Canada where she became the anchor for her family by providing a loving and nurturing home for her siblings. After several years she joined her brother Bill and his family in America where she met and married Thomas Roufos. They made their home in New York for most of their lives before moving to Massachusetts to spend more time with their grandchild. She unfortunately lost her husband in 1995 but found great comfort that year in the birth of her second grandson.

She lived the rest of her 18 years in Groton with her son and daughter in law. She adored her grandsons and looked forward to the holidays with all the traditions, great food and company. She leaves behind her son Alkiviadis and daughter in law Deborah, her grandsons Thomas and Anthony, her sister Zozo Tsillis in Athens Greece, and nieces both in the U.S. A.

Visiting hours were held at the Hamilton-McGAFFIGAN Funeral Home 37 Main St. (113) Pepperell. Funeral Services were held at the Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church 25 Fr. John Sarantos Way (Clark St.) Lowell. Burial was in Groton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions in her memory may be made to the Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church 25 Fr. John Sarantos Way (Clark St.) Lowell, Ma. 01854 Please see www.mcgaffiganfuneral.com
