BLUE RIBBON in Public Speaking Competition For 4-H Member From Groton

Mass. 4-H Youth Development honored over 100 4-H youth competing in the http://mass4h.org/news/4-h-visual-presentation-program 4-H Visual Presentation Day April 2 at Bedford Middle School. This state-level public speaking competition is culmination of public speaking contests conducted at nine regional locations across the state and featured best of 4-H organization’s rising, young public speakers.
About 300 4-H youth, ages 8 to 18, presented a range of topics. Some of many interesting subjects included equine science, maple syrup production, how to build an A-frame fire, dog showmanship, getting to know GMOs, investing in stocks, hydroponics, magic tricks and illusions, suburban chicken-keeping, and history of firefighting. Each participant was judged against a specific set of guidelines and scored individually.
4-H member Collin Berube, of Groton of RC Carrot Crusaders was among recipients of first place ribbons. Colllin gave an instructional presentation on how to change the oil in a car.
