PEOPLE: Former GDHS Softball Star Excels at Fitchburg State
Fitchburg State University received an outstanding performance from senior hurler Kerry Alcott in a 17-0 win over Mass. Maritime. Alcott tossed a no-hitter allowing just one walk and striking out a career best 13 in five innings. She was 5-3 with a 2.24 earned-run average and 87 strike-outs in 58.1 innings.
Alcott is 2010 graduate of Groton-Dunstable Regional High School where she, lettered in volleyball and softball. She was named team MVP in volleyball, while also earning the Brian Kane Memorial Coach's Award in softball during senior campaign, and was a two-year member of MIAA All-Star team for softball ('09,'10).
Off the field, she earned the Augusta Hornblower Citizenship Award as well as GDRHS Principal's Award. Alcott is majoring in Special Education and is a member of the Dean's List. She is the daughter of Brian and Sandy Alcott of Groton.
