PEOPLE: Former Groton Resident, G-D Grad, in School HALL OF FAME

The Assumption College Dept. of Athletics has announced the Assumption Alumni-Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2013, as selected by the Hall of Fame Committee. This year's class includes Susan (Dailey) Malanga '84 (women's basketball), Stephen Connolly '91 (ice hockey), Demetri Beekman '93 (men's basketball), Anne (Mingolelli) Burgholzer '00 (field hockey) and John Ippolito (men's tennis head coach).

This year's induction ceremony took place Oct. 18 in Hagan Campus Center Hall.

Anne was a four-year member of the field hockey program and is the all-time leading scorer with 92 points in 81 career games. A team captain as a senior, she posted 34 career goals and 24 career assists and was a 1999 Northeast-10 Second Team All-Conference selection. She is fourth in career games played at 81, second in goals with 34, third in assists with 24 and her 35-point season in 1999 is tied for the third-highest in Assumption field hockey history.

Following Assumption, Anne went to work at the Perkins School for the Blind for three years, while also completing her Master's Degree in Severe and Intensive Special Needs from Boston College. She is currently a special education teacher at the elementary level in the Needham Public School system. Anne remains active in a number of sports and takes part in road races and Crossfit training. Active philanthropically, she participates each year in the Brain Tumor Bike Ride and the Cystic Fibrosis Cycle for Life event along with her husband, Robert.  

Anne was a three sport student-athlete at Groton-Dunstable Regional High School, Class of 1996. She played field hockey, and captained the girls' basketball team and softball team. She is the daughter of Robert and Jane Mingolelli of Groton.
