Platt Builders Recycles Materials to Help Neighbors in Need

Platt Builders has taken another step forward in its 20-year relationship with Habitat for Humanity. Platt has partnered with Leominster Habitat for Humanity ReStore to reduce amount of materials going to landfills while increasing funds for building Habitat homes in our region. Platt Builders has purchased and dedicated a trailer to be used to collect salvaged materials from Platt's remodeling and building projects. These materials will be sorted and resold at Habitat NCM ReStore in Leominster to raise funds for building and repairing affordable homes in the region.

"This partnership is a win-win for everyone," states Halsey Platt, president of Platt Builders. "Our clients can feel good that materials removed from their home won't end up in the landfill, Platt Builders saves on dumpster costs, area residents can purchase used materials at a very reasonable cost from the ReStore, and Habitat North Central Mass. uses the proceeds to build and repair affordable homes for those in need."

Habitat for Humanity partners with families to build new homes and to help keep families in their homes when finances make it difficult to get necessary repairs done. Habitat for Humanity was founded on the conviction that every man, woman and child should have a simple, decent place to live in dignity and safety, and that decent shelter should be a matter of conscience and action for all.

"We are excited to be expanding our partnership with Platt Builders and are grateful for their generosity in donating the trailer and reusable materials," said Werner Thissen, ReStore Retail Director. "Halsey has been a key long-term partner in our mission and continues to help us to help our neighbors in need right here in Massachusetts."
