QUILTS For Soldiers
Members of the Executive Board of the Groton Woman's Club served a luncheon to fifteen members of the Quilting Committee of the Club on Feb. 13th. The luncheon was to show appreciation for all the work that the quilting group has done over the years.
Starting in 2007, the quilters have made 400 quilts for wounded servicemen and women as part of the Soldiers' Angels program. Each quilt is made with patriotic colors and design. When a soldier is wounded requiring hospitaliztion, he or she is flown to Landstuh Army Hospital in Germany. U.S soldiers, and occasionally foreign soldiers, are given one of these quilts. One of the squares, handwritten by Jan Dillon, Chairman of the Quilt Committee, thanks the soldier for his or her service from the Groton Woman's Club.
