  At approximately 3:30 Monday morning, the Groton Fire Department responded to an Allen’s Trail residence for a basement fire. Occupants were alerted by their smoke alarms and were able to quickly evacuate the home. 

   This is a great example of the importance of smoke alarms. Remember to check your smoke alarms weekly or on a schedule recommended by the alarm manufacturer. Firefighters from Littleton, Ayer, Westford, Pepperell Devens and Shirley assisted on scene while Dunstable provided coverage. 

   No injuries occurred. While providing coverage Dunstable and Groton units responded to a Blossom Lane address for smoke in the basement. It was found to be an electrical issue with no active fire.
