Sean James McGinty

Sean James McGinty passed away peacefully Thursday, September 26, 2024 surrounded by his daughter and his friends. Sean was eager to return from the hospital to his apartment in Pepperell as he was fully aware of his declining health. He slipped peacefully into a coma on September 24 as he listened to some of his favorite music while his daughter and friends shared stories at his bedside.

Sean was born and raised in California where he made many lifelong friends. He was a graduate of UCLA along with studying Theology in Cambridge. He lived on and off in Ireland and enjoyed traveling extensively throughout Europe. He was an avid fan of baseball and his team was always the Anaheim Angels with the Red Sox a close second. He spent 11 years of his early adulthood studying Roman Catholic theology under the guidance of the Society of Jesus (Jesuits).

Sean would have been 72 on Oct 23. He is survived by his daughter Molly and many friends and family. If you knew Sean at all, you knew he loved music, even learning to play the harmonica late in life. He was a prolific writer and has published several books, screenplays and scripts for sitcoms and short documentaries. He was a passionate educator and a patient listener. His main topic of conversation, however, was always around his daughter Molly. He would tell anyone who would listen how proud he was of everything she did.

There will be a funeral mass on his birthday, Wednesday, October 23 at St Joseph’s Church on 28 Tarbell Street, Pepperell, at 10 a.m. There will be a luncheon to follow in the church hall. Sean will be laid to rest at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers/cards, please think about making a donation to your local school in Sean’s name. As a lifelong educator, he would have appreciated the gesture. For Sean’s online guestbook, please see www.McGaffiganFuneral.com
