Groton Water Dept. Mandatory Water Conservation Program

The Board of Water Commissioners voted Feb. 12 to institute a Mandatory Odd/Even Water Conservation Program for this summer. The Program runs June 1 - Sept. 30 and has been specially designed to provide customers with the convenience of both morning and evening hours. Groton Water Dept. is able to offer evening hours as a direct result of residents' efforts in managing their water consumption in the past, but continued cooperation is required.

Watering during middle of the day will harm lawns and has greatest potential for evaporation.

How to comply with an Odd/Even Water Conservation Program:

•If your home has an odd numbered address, you may use your outside water spigots and sprinklers for watering grass, shrubs, plants and gardens on odd numbered calendar days, between midnight - 9 a.m. and 6 -9 p.m.

•If your home has an even numbered address, you may use your outside water spigots and sprinklers for watering grass, shrubs, plants and gardens on even numbered calendar days, between t midnight - 9 a.m. and 6 -9 p.m.

•In addition, all irrigation systems must be retrofitted with a moisture sensor.
