CONSERVATION COMMISSION

LEGAL NOTICE

Pursuant to the Massachusetts Wetlands Protection Act and the Townsend Wetlands Bylaw, the Townsend Conservation Commission will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, August 28, 2024 at 7:15 pm. The hearing will be held virtually via Zoom meeting and in person at Town Hall, on a Notice of Intent (NOI) filed with the Conservation Commission by Townsend Highway Department. The property is located at 94 Fitchburg Road (Assessor’s Map 16, Parcel 39, Lot 2). 

The proposed project is for the extension of a public storm drainpipe to outfall into the 100-foot bordering vegetated wetland buffer. 

Parties wishing to speak in support of, or in opposition to, this application may do so at the meeting or in writing prior to the meeting. Copies of this application are available for review at Town Hall during business hours.

CONSERVATION COMMISSION

Pursuant to the Massachusetts Wetlands Protection Act and the Townsend Wetlands Bylaw, the Townsend Conservation Commission will hold a work session on Wednesday, August 28, 2024 during their 7:00pm meeting. The work session will be held virtually via Zoom meeting and in person at Town Hall, on a Request for Determination of Applicability filed with the Conservation Commission by Ron and Lori Steers. The property is located at 20 Coppersmith Way (Assessor’s Map 27, Parcel 38). 

The proposed project is for a septic replacement within the 100-foot bordering vegetated wetland buffer and the removal of several trees within the local 35 foot wetland buffer.

  Pursuant to the Massachusetts Wetlands Protection Act and the Townsend Wetlands Bylaw, the Townsend Conservation Commission will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, August 14, 2024 at approximately 7:15 pm. The hearing will be held virtually via Zoom meeting and in person at Town Hall, on a Notice of Intent (NOI) filed with the Conservation Commission by MassDOT. The project location is the culvert under Route 119 (Main Street), approximately 100-feet west of its intersection with Edward Road. 

The NOI was filed retroactively for structural repairs following a headwall and embankment collapse which resulted in a blockage of the upstream end of the culvert. The work occurred in Land Under Water, Riverfront Area, and the 100’ bordering vegetated wetland buffer.

  The Townsend Conservation Commission will hold a Public Hearing on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, 7:15pm to consider a Notice of Intent filed by Matthew S. Marro Environmental Consulting for the applicant Ace Your Home Lux, LLC for property located at 21 Emery Rd; Map 16 Parcel 50-30.  The proposed work is for the replacement of an existing septic system within the 100-ft. Buffer Zone. This is a joint hearing under the requirements of MGL Ch. 131 §40, as amended, and the Townsend Wetlands Protection Bylaw and Regulations, as amended.
