Wendy Frank

Wendy Frank passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, March 18, 2022 at 11:45 a.m. caressed by her family. Wendy is survived by her loving husband, Ray Ciemny, son Jonas (Kelsey) Ciemny, daughter Lia Ciemny (Greg Lerner), sister Sue (Amir) Viskin, nephew Tal (Nora) Viskin, niece Adee (Andrew) Kennedy, great nieces, great nephew, cousins, and beloved friends who have become family.
Wendy was born on April 10,1957 in Bluefield, West Virginia and grew up in Reading, Pennsylvania. Wendy built communities throughout Massachusetts, including Jamaica Plain - where she met her husband at Food for Thought Cafe - Concord, and Groton. Wendy and Ray moved to Groton in 1993 where they raised two beloved children. Their family brought together a community of friends over the years to share in many life experiences, and often opened their yard and home on the Nashua River for social gatherings. Wendy's warmth attracted friendships throughout all areas of her life.
Wendy was a light everywhere she went. She inspired young girls through summer camps held at her home, helping them to find their voices and propagate kindness through music and art. Wendy spread fun, playful song, and dance into the lives of many children as a music specialist. With her music therapy, Wendy radiated joy, love, and laughter to children and adults alike while working with multiple care facilities. Wendy was always toting along a bag of puppets, musical instruments, and picture books. She could turn any story into a song and loved bringing happiness to all those who surrounded her.
Wendy devoted her life to promoting creative expressions through music and art. Wendy performed her music for groups of all ages and recorded music for young audiences both as a singer/songwriter and as a part of the group Human Nature. Her love of art inspired her to craft jewelry out of glass, copper, and other metals which she sold at local galleries.
Wendy adored spending time with her family, making friends out of strangers, appreciating bountiful meals, taking nature walks, playing Dictionary, and (at least seven second) long hugs. Amongst friends and strangers alike, Wendy was never afraid to probe deeper with her genuine questions. In her ongoing mantra to share her caring spirit with others, she helped people to open up by asking anything and everything, not hesitating to get deeply personal. Wendy could be found biking down the bike path or swimming in fresh water on a warm summer day. Wendy's iconic or- ange hair and outfits were always on proud display around town and at her classes and performances.
Please join in celebration of Wendy's life at the First Parish Church in Groton, Saturday, April 2 at 10:30 a.m. The family invites all to gather at their home in Groton following the memorial service. In lieu of flowers, Wendy's family requests donations to Groton Community School in her memory.
